My Baby

Here is my little miracle baby Mace. I had him 3 weeks early due to a fall on the ice. I broke my elbow and started contractions and had him one week after I broke it. The miracle was, he had a tight knot in his cord. We could have lost him if I hadn't fallen. He has been such a joy and we are enjoying every minute with him in our home. For Those who are using my actions, I used the Peach BW Preset for the first two from the colorful actions and also the Light and Airy black and white action on the last one.

I can't believe summer is over already! It's so good to have the kids back in school having more of a routine! I wanted to post a few of the photos I took this past summer, too many to choose from! Now we get to enjoy the beautiful fall weather! My favorite time of year!

He's growing up so fast, such a darling little guy! He sucks on his fingers all the time now. Always the two, cracks me up. I should probably give him a pacifier. he's been such a joy and I'm still up late at night with him. I need a good years worth of extra sleep to cover for the many years without. Sleep is not over-rated. We also went to Bear World and I got some great shots that I'm dying to post, but I know I have family waiting to see this little guy.

I had this on blown up to 16 by 20 for my basement, except I got it done in black and white. I really need to post some more photos of Mace soon. I'm still working on my new website for the actions, I finally decided to hire it out as it's just not getting done left in my hands. Website design is harder than I thought it would be.

We had our 8th baby on January 13th, he was 6 lbs 12 ounces and 19 inches long. I had a fall right before he was born, slipped on the ice and broke my elbow. It made for a pretty eventful delivery/recovery! But, I had good friends and wonderful family that were so kind and helpful during it all. I'm so grateful for people who care and I can't wait to be able to pay it forward once my arm is better. I'm so tired, he's up a lot at night and I'm still in the adjustment stage with 3 other kids at home during the day. I wanted to let those of you who have bought the Colorful Presets know that the bottom bw is the Peach BW preset. I use it all the time, it's one of my favorite black and whites now and it prints beautifully! Well, I really need a nap, too bad I have to wait until Saturday to get it!

It's been a while since my last post! I'm 33 weeks pregnant with my 8th child, so I'm pretty much busy with children all day long! I've had a few people email and ask if I'm still selling my actions, yes I am! I'm just behind on building a more professional website than this blog. I have a website template that I bought, but the shopping cart just isn't working right for what I need it for. So, I'm hoping once this new baby is born, I can get it all figured out! But for now, you can continue to buy actions from this blog, I'm pretty good about sending them within a 24 hour period after payment. I'm finally done with Christmas shopping. I love the Christmas season, but I don't like the shopping aspect, so I've done most of mine online! My favorite place to shop for kids clothes is The Childrens Place, they always have such cute clothes and it's always affordable. I just got 5 sweaters and 2 matching hats for 33.00! Not bad and I did it all from my comfy chair at my computer, love that! Well, it's late and I can't think of much else to share and my bed is calling my name. Goodnight everyone and have a Merry Christmas!

Just had to post this photo, it's been too long! I just got a book printed at My Publisher, I really love the way it turned out! I'll have to post some pictures of it, I love how quick and easy they are to make. It's been a hard couple of days, my sister was diagnosed with cancer after delivering her fourth child. They found some lumps while delivering my new niece and on further study found that they were cancerous. I love her so much, and wish we lived in the same state so I could help her out more. I'm hoping and praying she is going to be O.K. Sometimes, life is so hard. We are hoping for the best though and I'll have to call some local pizza places and send them some pizza for dinner on the nights she's not feeling up to cooking. She has 4 kids that need there mama. So, between that and my husbands cousins, son's suicide, it's been a week full of tears for us. Hoping next week will be a little brighter of a week for us, we could use some good news, especially for my sweet sister.

This is my new little nephew Aaron! He's so precious and perfect! He was so tiny only around 6 lbs, I just loved holding him and miss him already! Thanks Becky and Dale for bringing him here to see me, I loved taking his pictures! You guys are the sweetest parents in the world and I'm so happy for you both!

I haven't posted in what seems like forever, and I miss it! Also, my sister is getting a little irritated that she hasn't been seeing the niece's and nephews as regularly as she should. So this one is for her, a couple of photos to keep her happy and up to date. The picture of my son on the red couch is being blown up to 24 by 30 for my basement. I've been needing one of him to finish my wall of all seven of my children, so with this one it will be complete, so I'm so excited to see it finished!

This is what my kids did on their Christmas break! I thought the fort turned out Ultra cool! They worked really hard on it and had a lot of fun, glad I broke out my camera. I was determined not to post until my new website and blog were up and running, but I ran into some snags with the website, so it still isn't quite ready yet, close but not quite. It's been cold here, lots of snow, but my parents came for Christmas and of course the kids and I loved that! It was so good to see them and have them here for Christmas morning! I'll never forget it! I started using coupons a few months ago, oh my goodness! I didn't know how much they could save! I've cut our food bill in half and as a stay at home mom with 7 kids to feed, we really needed that! If you are interested the two sites I use are www.pinchingyourpennies.com and www.afullcup.com. They do all the work for you, go here, use this coupon, save this much. Today I bought 3 packs of Pampers Pull ups at Alberson's for 4.00 plus tax! Just wanted to post something fresh as I've been busy working on trying to get my new actions website up and running. I'm looking forward to having it finished. Family life is busy, I seem to never slow down. Someday, I really want to sleep in. I really miss being able to wake up when as I choose. I've always been a bit of a night owl and it's just not fitting for a mother of 7 kids. I really need to go to sleep early and rise early, so why in the world am I posting at midnight? Because I have time to myself, a rare pleasure and I'm soaking it up and I'm sure I will also regret it a bit tomorrow when I'm up at 6:00 a.m. How I wish I could magically sleep in.

Felt like taking some outdoor shots before the long and dreary winter hits. Don't you love his tongue? It's a new thing he does ALL the TIME! Cracks me up, he smiles with his mouth wide open too, and that frown is so him. So perfect, I love that shot because it will always remind me of that sweet little frown he does.

Just a quick baby photo update. Boy is he getting chunky, I love a chunky baby. I'm exhausted, I've been going solid all day long and just finished helping my son with a rock collection, we had to identify all of his rocks. So I spent a few hours looking up rocks and trying to find pictures of the ones he collected. It was tedious, and I'm still not sure we got them all right. Ugh, I need sleep. I used the Subtle color preset number 1 and Colorful Kick on the color photo and light and airy bw from colorful kick action set. I took these the other night of my girls with their Parasol. The cute little dresses are handmade, I bought them from etsy here's a link if you are interested, I think she makes such cute stuff! Love how colorful they are, and how well made. Wish I could sew. I'm working on my website for the actions which will accept credit cards as well as Pay Pal. Hopefully I'll have that up and running soon, I'm excited about it. Loving the gorgeous weather right now, it's so perfect out and I'm looking forward to Fall. Took these tonight, our first family photo in years!!! I have been meaning to take a family photo and it feels so good to have finally done it!! I got some cute ones of the boys, but the one on top here I love the most, just all the silly expressions. Top photo is using the Cocoa Shine from the remarkable set and the second one of our family was done with the light and airy bw from the colorful set with the BW depth added, and I duplicated the BW depth layer too darken the shadows a wee bit more.

Just one for now. I don't have much to say, my dryer broke and I'm behind on laundry. You should see how much laundry I have piled up. It's a mountain, not even kidding! I just saw my parents this weekend, we watched the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy, they had never seen it. My dad hated it, my mom loved it! More later!

Here are a few recent (tonight) photos i took. I've had quite a few people email me asking about studio lighting and thought I would just let those who are interested in learning in on what I ended up buying. I got 1 alienbee 800 and a giant softbox that attatches too it. That sits on camera left and a giant silver reflector camera right. I have a Canon 5D and a 50mm 1.2 lens that I use. If anyone has any other questions, feel free to post them below. It's been a really fun learning process and I'm loving it just as much as natural light! I know I never post a whole lot, I always feel so guarded with what I write on the internet, so I apologize to anyone out there who is looking for more words with my posts, but I'm always willing to share information and I appreciate others who share as well. If you are a seasoned veteran with your lights and have any suggestions for me, please leave a comment, I'd love to hear it and if you are in the learning faze like I am, let me know that too, maybe we can help each other!

I'm ordering a 24 by 30 of this one, I love it! I took these with my studio lighting along with a giant softbox. I'm really enjoying the lights, and I love that I get such a similar look to natural lighting. I think What I enjoy doing the most is photographing babies and children. Here's a few more... I used my Colorful kick action with these, it works great with my studio shots as well.

This boy has the sweetest personality and such a dry and charming sense of humor, I just love him! I've been super busy lately with processing photos and making business plans. We also just had our family reunion, it was so much fun!! Still working on those photos as well. Lots more photos to come!

We had such a nice, quiet Sunday! I really enjoyed being with the kids and husband, no where to go nothing to do but enjoy the day. If you haven't signed up already for google reader you should!!! I LOVE it! I have several photography blogs that I frequent and it's a breeze to see new posts from those blogs immediately after they are posted. So it's like your own personal home page with all your favorite updated blogs to click through. Side note, I used the Light and airy BW from the color Kick set on the first two with the bw depth on top and the Colorful Kick action on the color photos.

Just a few of my girls playing in their new Pettiskirt. They LOVE it! I've been playing around with some new actions for these shots, one in particular that makes the sky blue. It's a tubful! Just had to snap these quick photos of my kiddos getting clean. I always want to remember these days, I know how fast they go by. My oldest is 10 years old now, how did that happen so quickly? I just want to treasure each and every moment and i love photography for that very reason. I can preserve a moment in time with one click of the shutter, I love that. We are having a lazy day today. Went to Church, and now we are all just playing and relaxing together. I'm doing a 4H photography group with my boys, so I think we might have a meeting today to get a project ready for the State Fair. It's been fun, I'm so glad my mother in law suggested it.

Caught one of big brother too walking by, the sky was so perfect.

I was out playing with my camera taking some photos of my cute little guy yesterday. I caught these, the green blanket threw a green cast onto his face in some of my photos, anyone out there know how to fix that? I tried desaturating the green channel, no luck, tried selective color, no luck, tried color balance, no luck. I'm out of ideas and I adore one photo (not posted here), but it has that awful green cast back up on his face. Ugh. Dang rug!

Just took the kids out to play, and thought I'd bring the camera along. I put Jaxen in his exersaucer, he seemed to enjoy it and the girls loved the fact that he was out there playing with us! Did these with the Remarkable set, true black and white and color set is subtle preset with the colorful action. I also used the 35mm 1.4L for these photos and I think I really like this lens, it's so sharp and contrasty. More later.

We went to the park last night, got some sweet photos of the baby and the kids. Here's a few of the baby while the kids were wading through the creek with dad. Although, the one of Jaxen in the tree isn't as unsafe as it seems, my husband was holding him safely there. Just thought I'd through that out there so no one is too worried. Love this baby.

Here's one of her tricks.

I can't believe how photogenic this girl is. If you were to see the digital photos I took yesterday, you would be amazed by how different her expression is in EVERY single photo! She cracks me up, I never tell her how to pose, I just snap away. I brought her outside to watch her ride her bike, she just learned how and is so proud of herself. She's even more excited because she can now ride her brothers bike (the one in the picture). We had a fun night, and I have more pictures of the other kids to post too, but they need their own post as well, so I'll save them for a future post.

I use the Give me Color action from the new set, I didn't use any presets this time, just the action. I am also working on a new action set for Photoshop Elements as well, since I never did make the last two sets available for PSE. Vibrant and Color Wonder still work for PSE, but I am taking the last two sets that I did and doing a mix of them for you PSE users.

The last picture was taken late, but I saw the most incredible rainbow, so I took a quick one before it started raining pretty hard and we had to run in.

My gorgeous baby boy. He is getting so big, I miss that newborn stage that was so fleeting. I didn't get near enough pictures. I took these in our basement that we are in the process of finishing. We just had all the walls put up and texturized and with the bare cement floor, the light was beautiful down there. So I propped him near the window. I've also been working all in RAW lately, I love Lightroom and Adobe Bridge. I plan on buying Lightroom 2.0 when it's available. More photos later!

I'm so excited about this set, it's my favorite one yet! This action set has 13 actions and 16 Raw Presets. They are designed to compliment eachother. The presets and actions come with instruction tutorials for how to load them and also how to get the most from them. We've been in Disneyland the last week, it was so much fun! I have photos I want to post from the trip, but no time to process them right now. I'll post photos later this week. Disneyland is so much fun though and the weather was great for the most part. I missed my bed. Look how big he's getting! He's already over a month old, it goes waaay too fast! Took these today, hence my house is a mess. I need to spend the rest of the afternoon cleaning and getting dinner going. We are finishing our basement though, and with that I will be finishing a room for a studio! I'm so excited! I just got my studio lights too, but I haven't set them up or played with them yet. I wonder how big of a learning curve it's going to be. When I take some photos, I'll post them. Getting tired of newborn photos yet? Love this photo of him! Also, I downloaded the new Lightroom 2.0 beta, and WOW! Love what you can do in there! I've been having so much fun with it! I don't have too much time to post once again, the laundry pile is taller than me. But, I wanted to post some faq's. I occasionally get email's about what camera I use and lens questions. I have a Canon 5D and an 85mm and a 50mm lens. I love prime lenses, they are so sharp, so if I could recommend a lens for someone it would always be a prime. They also have that low aperture, so you can get great indoor/low light photos.

Don't have much to say today, everyone has been so sick at my house this past week. We've had a horrible case of the flu that has run through 5 of the 7 kids and dad and I have both had a terrible cold. Baby Jaxen is still healthy I am happy to report. More later!

Working on RAW presets

My Jaxen, I love him so much already! He's two weeks old now and we are enjoying cuddling with and just being with him. I love the newborn age, as short as it is and I'm savoring every moment. he's such an angel.

Also, I've been working on new RAW presets and new actions for about a month now, but having this baby and extra computer time due to nursing late at night is helping me along. Here are two that I did both different presets and actions, hopefully they will be ready soon.

Baby Jaxen is here!!! He was born on February 27th and weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz.! We are enjoying him so much especially his siblings. He hardly cries and someone is always right there to comfort him. I'll post more as I take them.

I had my Dr. appt yesterday and she said she would schedule a date for induction next week!!!! So next Wednesday I should know when this little guy is coming into this world! I can't wait to have him in my arms and out of my belly. Things are getting pretty tight in there and my back can hardly take it anymore. Also, because I can't post without a photo, here's one my 5 year old son took of me and my daughter, couldn't believe it was in focus, he did good!

Just wanted to say a quick hello, I'm still here and 36 weeks pregnant. Looking forward to the end and holding my newborn in my arms. Birth is always the best part isn't it? Quick one for today, I needed to update my blog! Love the impish little grin, such a girly photo. I used the Happy Color from the Remarkable set on this one. I can hardly believe Christmas is next week! So much to do! My littlest baby is getting glasses today. He's only 19 months old, so I'm assuming it's going to be a struggle to keep them on him. My oldest broke his glasses last week too, so we have to get him a new pair today as well. So, I've got a busy day ahead of me, Merry Christmas everyone!

Here's a few more from the pictures I took last week. Used the remarkable actions on these, but I also used the warming action from the Vibrant color set as well. The pregnancy is going along well, but I'm huge! I started showing right away, I remember a time when I didn't start showing until 20 weeks, I miss those days because I know I'm in for a boat load of misery! Seeing that little one with the Ultrasound makes it all worth it though. Just wish I had more energy. Also, when i saw the baby this last week, it looked as if it were a boy! It's still too early to tell, but that's what me and the Ultrasound lady thought we saw. I have no idea what to name a boy, boys names are tough for us!

Here are some pictures I took of my inlaws family, they've got quite the group of beautiful girls! I have alot to proof, these are just the first couple. I always get so nervous taking pictures for other people, but it's such a growing and learning experience, it pushes me out of my shell. It was pretty hurried, we didn't have much time, wish I could have spent a little more time with them, but it was fun. I'll probably post more later.

Love the yellow marker on her hand, I almost cloned it out, but it adds to the silly photo. This is the only face I could get out of her, and I love it, sums up childhood! Used the low saturation action in the Color Wonder set to process and the resize for the web action in the Remarkable set.

He's just starting to try walking, not quite there yet though. We're working on it! I think having the hardwood floors makes it harder for our kids to learn how to walk, because ever since we moved into this home, they've had trouble, but I wouldn't trade the floor for carpet. It's so much easier to keep clean with little ones! I used the Golden color in the remarkable set, but, a tip for those who have this action, after it runs through, you can click on the golden color box if you'd like, and then choose other colors to fill instead of the golden color I chose for the action, that's what I did here, I used a dark red. Here is the same photo in color too, I used Color Saturate also from the Remarkable set.

Just a quick update, I'm 12 weeks pregnant and finally feeling better. It's been a rough couple of months and I feel so grateful to feel good again. It's a good thing these pregnancy's are so worth all the misery. I get to visit with my family this week and I'm so excited! The kids are back in school too, so I only have three at home. Love the look of this black and white. I used the Warm BW from my remarkable set and just pulled the Brazen slider a little bit higher and reduced the photo filter layer, and the lighten layer. Another one taken with the 50mm 1.2L lens. I'm loving that lens!!

Playing with a new lens

I got a new lens to play with today, this is the 50mm 1.2L and I just took some quick photos on my kitchen table of my little girl, the only one awake and around. I used the Cocoa Shine from the remarkable set to convert it to BW. Still sick, but I went to my Dr. appt. and saw the baby via ultrasound and that made it all real and worth it. My due date is March 8th!

I haven't updated in quite a while because I've been sick. Morning sickness, so if I don't post for another week or too, you'll know why. I do check me email everyday still and will send orders out.
